DISTANT FRIENDS
Ana Ventura and Camilla Engman have used personal websites and blogs to share their work, creating a diary-like intimacy with their audience. This engagement boosted their notoriety and connected them in 2005. Resulting from their long-distance dialogue, these linen screenprints were born in 2011.
They worked based on the graphic elements exchanged between them, and the notably achieved result in co-authorship was then screen printed on linen, with selected embroidered elements, adding additional richness to each piece.
These screenprints set the theme for the exhibition "Distant Friends," first presented in Bologna in 2011 at the Hamelin Associazone Culturale and later in 2012 at the Gallery of the Portuguese Screen Printing Center at CCB in Lisbon.
