BOLOGNA SKIN

Each time I journey to Bologna, particularly for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, I find myself enchanted by the vibrant colors that adorn the cityscape. Since 2011, I’ve made it a habit to capture these moments, showcasing the meticulous attention locals pay to their homes and buildings.

I see these as a visible mending of the walls. The array of colors and layers of paint seem to embody the very skin of these structures, revealing narratives of bygone eras through their weathered surfaces – a tapestry of sunburns, tattoos, wrinkles, scars, and wounds. Yet, beneath this cosmetic layer lies a rich history, each texture exposing the layers of past lives

My aim is to compile these captivating visuals into a book, presenting an extraordinary palette that celebrates the city’s remarkable ‘make-up’.
